专家说明

Pantaloon was a chesnut colt foaled in 1824 by Castrel out of Idalia by Permian. His racing career was relatively limited: he was unbeaten in the only season he ran, as a three-year-old in 1827. Having belonged to a Mr Gifford when racing, he first stood as a stallion at Wolverhampton, but by 1832 had been bought by the 1st Marquess of Grosvenor for his stud at Eaton. Here he was a great success, despite having to compete with the champion stallion Touchstone. His best two progeny were probably Satirist, winner of the St. Leger, and Ghuznee, winner of the Oaks. He lived to the age of twenty-six.
