The Atmos clock was created by Jean-L?on Reutter, in Neuch?tel, Switzerland.
His main challenge was to produce a clock that could be wound by atmospheric fluctuations. Reutter succeeded in 1928 and his patent was first licensed to a French company who exploited it until 1935. Only later was it purchased by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Atmos clock was a prestigious gift offered to important personalities during their visits to Switzerland.
