Nicola Hicks (b. 1960)

The original plaster version from which this bronze sculpture was made was modelled in plaster and straw built on a wire framework. The straw gives texture and bulk to the plaster and Hicks allows the shape of the straw to be revealed in some portions of the work creating a rich dynamic surface.
