专家说明

The engraving of Shakespeare is taken from the Monument in Westminster Abbey by Peter Scheemakers in 1740 after a design by William Kent. The column which he leans against is carved with busts of Queen Elizabeth, Henry V and Richard III. The engraving is mainly used on mugs and tankards and is rarely seen on bowls. Similar examples are discussed in Simon Spero and John Sandon, Worcester Porcelain 1751-1790, The Zorensky Collection, Suffolk, 1996, p. 394, nos. 514 and 515.
