专家说明

Canaletto's London views, produced between 1746 and 1756, had a huge influence on his contemporaries in England, such as Samuel Scott and Paul Sandby, who began to produce similar panoramas of views along the Thames. Perhaps the most obvious example of this influence is the pair of pendant views looking east and west from the gardens of Somerset House by Paul and Thomas Sandby held in the collection of the British Museum.
This influence can also be seen in this view of the Thames at Brentford, by an as yet unidentifiable artist, and therefore, it is likely the piece dates from the middle of the 18th Century.
