CIRCA 1880, POSSIBLY IRISH
Comprising:
Three oblong centrepieces, each with a roundel bearing the Spencer coat-of-arms with Poyntz, the three arches supported by cluster columns and supporting candlebranches, vases and droplets, on purple velvet base with ceramic castors, losses to all three, with further component parts for two further centrepieces, incomplete;
A pair of twelve-branch candelabra en suite, lacking some drops, with a third incomplete candelabrum, component parts for a fourth with extensive losses;
Together with various free-standing mirrored and glass jardinières, bowls and vases, damages
Candelabra: 60 in. (152 cm.) high; 19¾ in. (50 cm.) wide;
Oblong centrepieces: 54½ in. (138 cm.) high, approx.; 97 in. (246.5 cm.) long; 25½ in. (65 cm.) wide

Probably purchased by John Poyntz, 5th Earl Spencer, while serving as Viceroy of Ireland in 1882-1885;
Brought by him to Althorp, Northamptonshire after 1885, and by family descent.
