Rectangular étui-à-tablettes, the obverse and reverse set with ivory plaques inset with pink-gold bordered abalone shell spandrels, each side centred with glazed oval grisaille miniatures on paper depicting putti, sides of the hinged cover set with octagonal shell plaques containing glazed oblong miniatures on card painted with the word 'souvenir' on obverse and 'd'amitie' on reverse, waterleaf-stamped and reeded borders, gold push-piece, interior fitted with metal pencil-holder
