This blanc de noirs is from Ambonnay, a grand cru village in the Montagne de Reims. The southeast exposure there tends to produce richer wines and this is no exception. The Clos d'Ambonnay is inspired by the other single vineyard wine in the Krug portfolio: Clos du Mesnil (lot 88). The 1995, the first vintage of the Clos d'Ambonnay, was made in miniscule quantities: 250 cases only, something unheard of at grande marque houses.
