AFTER PLACIDO COSTANZI
Portrait of George Keith, 10th Earl Marischal (1692-1778), small-full-length, dressed in armour, with a battle scene and Dunnottar castle beyond
oil on copper
24¼ x 12½ in. (43.8 x 31.8 cm.)

专家说明

Both of these works are after the picture in the National Portrait Gallery, London, attributed to Placido Costanzi (1702-1759). The shield and helmet in the foreground bear the motto of the Keith clan -Veritas Vincit meaning 'Truth Conquers'. The castle in the background is that of Dunnottar, Aberdeenshire, and the groomsman is possibly Ibraham, a member of Marischal's retinue.
