etching, 1905, on wove paper, the tenth state (of eleven), signed, titled and annotated '100 proofs' in pencil, with full margins, pale light-staining, minor surface soiling, regularly-spaced tack holes at the sheet edges (occurred at time of printing), otherwise in good condition, together with The Wake on the Ferry (M. 313), etching, 1949, the fourth state (of four), signed, titled and annotated '200 proofs' in pencil

After he printed an etching plate, Peter J. Platt, one of the professional printers who worked with Sloan, would stretch the damp paper and tack down the sheet edges. Once dried, the tacks were removed and their telltale puncture marks remained, as seen in Fifth Avenue Critics, and other impressions printed by Platt.
