Jan Hoynck van Papendrecht (Dutch, 1858-1933)

The present lot depicts Belgian troops in Kamp Zeist, a military camp just outside Soesterberg. French troops constructed this camp in 1804. During the First World War it was mainly used by the Belgian military as a refugee camp.
