The poets' Golden Age of Peace and Plenty is evoked by these baskets of fruit of flowers, which are conceived in the French 18th Century 'picturesque' fashion. Related girandoles supplied for the Drawing Room of Newby Hall, Yorkshire, are listed in the 1792 inventory (see J. Cornforth, Newby Hall - II, Country Life 14 June 1979 p.1921 fig.4)
