A VICTORIAN SILVER-PLATED TEAPOT
拍品 176 Christopher Dresser (1834-1904), who first studied botany, became one of the most influential designers of his time. A contemporary of William Morris, he was Britain's first independent industrial designer. Dresser pioneered a new modern style, creating beautiful objects for the emerging consumer culture. Dresser was influenced by art and design from Japan, Egypt and Asia as well as his knowledge of botany. His designs extended to glass, ceramics and cast iron furniture for several manufacturers, not to mention functional metalwork, such as the claret jugs, teapot and sugar bowl offered here.
