Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, O.M., R.A. (1836-1912)

The central figure in this unfinished work is the same as that found in a small oil on copper, executed by the artist in June 1877, and now unlocated. The subject predates by a couple of months one of the artist's finest compositions The Sculptor's Model (Venus Esquilina).
