Pieter Ouborg (DUTCH, 1893-1956)

This painting together with lot 104 is one of the so called "visionary dream images". These works mark a turning point in his development. He now concentrated on a complete abstract- surrealistic style of painting. These early surrealistic paintings were shown for the first time at the exhibition at Kunsthandel de Bois in Haarlem in 1931.

The floating form brings Miro's work in remembrance but at the same time he turned it in something highly personal.

At the end of 1931 he wrote to Tielrooy "Art, art, all my thinking revolves around this. I'm painting a lot, because that absorbs me, painting".
