Philip Jones (British, b.1933)

Philip Jones studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in the early 1950s. His work is consistently connected to landscape where he sees and depicts the bones beneath the skin of landscape. His work verges on abstraction as he abstracts the essential elements of a scene, using both subtle shades and occasionally unexpected, muted bursts of colour. This lot is an early example of his work.
