Château Haut-Brion 1945
Pessac (Graves), 1er cru classé
Slightly corroded capsule. Bin-soiled label. Level: just below top-shoulder
Tasting note: A superb wine, possibly the best ever Haut Brion. Consistently deep in colour, ‘warm ruby’ with a rich, mahogany rim; bouquet variously described as ‘vanilla chocolate’ tobacco, earthy, always harmonious, honeycomb, touch of liquorices; silky texture, crisp fruit, luscious, perfect weight, grate length. A gentle giant. Last tasted Dec 2000 *****. M.B.
