ZARINA (1937-2020)

"In an entire abstract manner, New York based Zarina Hashmi's printmaking articulated a notion of space that could stand for, or recall for her, her home, city or country in the Indian subcontinent with their flexible, changing borders. In her urge to find 'home', Hashmi's engagement through her art has been with space, a personal journey that questions identity, the meaning of home, the urge for roots, memory and history, charted through lines.
