AN ITALIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER DOMINO SET AND CASE
FOR BULGARI, MARK OF UBALDO VITALI, MAPLEWOOD, NEW JERSEY, LATE 20TH CENTURY
The case formed as a large domino with gilt pips, the hinged cover opening to reveal a fitted green-velvet lined interior containing 28 dominos similarly with gilt pips, marked on underside of case with maker's mark and BULGARI / STERLING, the individual dominos marked STERLING
9 3⁄8 in. (23.8 cm.) long, the case
61 oz. 2 dwt. (1,900 gr.) gross weight

Silversmith and conservator Ubaldo Vitali (b. 1944) was awarded the MacArthur fellowship, unofficially known as the 'Genius Grant' in 2012. His work can be found in the collection of Yale University Art Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Newark Museum, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
