Specialist note
The present timepiece is one of the exceedingly few examples of a so-called 'Omani' Daytona featuring the Khanjar symbol engraved on its case back . It is preserved in excellent overall condition, retaining the factory protective stickers on the case, case back and deployant clasp.
The Cosmograph Daytona can be considered without a doubt among the most successful and well known line of chronograph wristwatches ever devised by any manufacturer. Introduced in 1963 with manually wound reference 6239, it underwent through various evolutions before being upgraded with an automatic movement around 1988 (reference 16520). Reference 116520 was launched in 2000, the first Daytona equipped with a fully in-house Rolex movement. In 2016 a new Daytona version was launched, ref. 16500, with black ceramic bezel.
