Specialist note
Presented in unworn, brand new condition, this unique steel Royal Oak was originally donated by Prince Albert II of Monaco and was sold at auction in New York in 2020. The proceeds benefited the charity ‘One Drop’ dedicated to providing safe water in disadvantaged communities around the world and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
To the best of our knowledge, the present Royal Oak is the only known example bearing the signature of H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco on the edge of the caseback bordering the sapphire crystal.
The stainless steel Royal Oak reference 15202ST ‘Jumbo’ was launched in 2012 to mark the 40th anniversary of the original steel Royal Oak reference 5402. The 15202ST maintains the similar slim case proportions and dial design with the double batons at 12 o’clock and applied ‘AP’ logo at 6 o’clock as its illustrious predecessor. Over the last decade, the 15202ST has become one of the most sought after of all current production Audemars Piguet wristwatches. The model’s desirability was propelled to an even higher level when it was announced that it would be discontinued in 2022.
The present watch provides the perfect opportunity for collectors to obtain a superb and unique unworn example of this ever more elusive steel Royal Oak reference, further enhanced with its impeccable charity auction provenance.
