Specialist note

An example of the present model is illustrated in G. Godden, The Illustrated Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone China, London, 1971, pl. 57. The large printed mark to the back incorporates the coat-of-arms used by the United Kingdom until Queen Victoria's ascension in 1837, and was used by Mason & Co. through the 1840s, appearing exclusively on chimney-pieces.
