James Hunt was apprenticed with his father, William and entered his first mark as a smallworker on 30 July 1760 from King Street, Cheapside, where he appears as goldworker in the Parliamentary Report list of 1773. Heal records William Hunt & Son as goldworkers at the Golden Lion, King Street and James Hunt, goldworker, King Street, from 1760 to 1777. He further records the death of a James Hunt, goldsmith, of Ironmonger Lane in 1782.
