Specialist note
Consigned by a private collector, the present timepiece is preserved in very good overall condition. To the best of our knowledge it has never been offered in public before.
Released in 1997, the Aquanaut reference 5066 was the very first wristwatch from Patek Philippe to be fitted with a composite, called 'tropical' strap. Introduced as a limited edition of 1'000 pieces at first, the well-received model was launched to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the celebrated Nautilus. Water-resistant to 120 m. like the Nautilus, its main characteristics are the cushion-shaped case, the textured dial matching the 'tropical' strap and the octagonal bezel.
A very coveted model, the Aquanaut in steel with composite 'tropical' strap or steel Aquanaut bracelet remained in production until 2006.
