The bowls circular with gadrooned rim, the bodies chased and engraved with dolphins and putti on seashells below a pierced floral trellis, with chased monogram MJM to one side, the dessert plates with a conforming gadrooned rim and border pierced and chased with putti on seashells, mermaids with flowing locks, and sinuous dolphins, the centers engraved with floral trellis, fourteen chased to the center with monogram MJM, four engraved with monogram SJCS, marked on undersides, the bowls numbered 7311-9733, the four with engraved monograms with French import marks
5 3/4 in. (14.6 cm.) diameter, the bowls; 9 1/2 in. (24.1 cm.) diameter, the stands

Specialist note

A pair of tazza with identical borders to the stands offered here were sold Christie's, New York, 21-22 January 2021, lot 271. The stems of these tazza were decorated with figures of mermaids and dolphins in high relief, the design of which was attributed to Eugene Julius Soligny, who worked for Tiffany & Co. from around 1858 to 1894.
