Specialist note

This stunning Patek Philippe rare handicrafts watch is part of an extremely limited edition set of three platinum reference 5077P watches featuring fabulously colourful ‘Macaw’ cloisonné enamel dials. Presented in immaculate like new condition, this watch ‘Green Macaw’ is accompanied by the full set of accessories.
Originally only available as part of the set of three watches when first offered to Patek Philippe's most important clients, this reference 5077P was launched in 2011 with each watch of the set being made with a different coloured macaw cloisonné dial. The three references of the ‘Macaw’ limited edition were: 5077P-080 ‘Red Macaw’, 5077P-081 ‘Green Macaw’ and 5077P-082 ‘Blue Macaw’. The present watch affords collectors the perfect opportunity to obtain an individual piece from one of these exclusive and much sought after sets. It is thought that no more than 5 examples of the present reference 5077P-081 platinum Calatrava are likely to have been made, each cloisonné enamel dial being unique and hand-made as one of the superb creations of Patek Philippe’s rare handicrafts division. The present dial has been created using the techniques of cloisonné enamel and hand-engraved guilloché, the ‘Green Macaw’, the present watch, required a total of 20 enamel colours and 11 firings, around 11cm of gold wire were used to form the cloisons.

Patek Philippe’s rare handicrafts division is dedicated to the preservation of the eclectic artisanal skills that have been associated with horology for over 400 years. The continuing use of these precious techniques in modern watchmaking contributes to their survival whilst at the same time delighting and impressing collectors and connoisseurs. The resplendent watch offered here pays tribute to Patek Philippe’s devotion to keeping these ancient crafts alive and demonstrates the mastery of techniques and subjects that enhance and enrich Patek Philippe’s enduring appeal and reputation for excellence in all aspects of watchmaking.
The wristwatches with rare handicrafts cloisonné enamel dials, always made in very small editions are now eagerly awaited as iconic and highly collectable horological works of art.
