CIRCA 1870, THE STAND MARK OF WILLIAM COMYNS & SONS LTD., LONDON, CIRCA 1900
Shaped circular, the border chased with scrolling foliage, the reverse with a conforming border around a large radiating star surrounded by twelve smaller stars, the stand with two scrolled supports rising from a lobed domed circular base similarly chased with scrolling foliage, with weighted base, the mirror marked with tughra and standard mark, also with assay scrape, the base with maker's mark only

Specialist note

The tughra found on the present lot denotes that it was created during the reign of Ottoman Sultan 'Abd al-'Aziz (1830 - 1876), who was the 32nd Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, reigning from 25 June 1861 up until 30 May 1876 when he was overthrown in a government coup.
