Specialist note

Although commonly seen in a black or white dial, the present 5170G-015 features a special-order blue “sunburst” dial with Breguet numerals.

Through the addition of the 5170 to their production line, Patek Philippe was able to incorporate and inspire a whole new generation of chronographs through their further modernization of the classic chronograph design drawn from their decades of experience in horological manufacturing.

A reduction of its preceding reference 5070, the Patek Philippe 5170 is reminiscent of the classic vintage chronographs from Patek Philippe’s past. Instead of going larger or keeping the original case size of the Reference 5070, Patek Philippe reduced the case size to 39.5mm in order to improve the wearability of the timepiece and to invoke the ideas and designs of previous references such as the Reference 1463.
