Les Self Portraits de Jack Pierson ont été rassemblés dans un ouvrage éponyme paru en 2003. Quinze images, qui, du jeune adolescent à l’homme adulte, nous dévoilent les différents âges de la vie. Toutes ces figures masculines sont différentes et non identifiées, aucun cliché ne représente l’artiste. A travers ce jeu trompeur, l’artiste nous incite à explorer son identité mais aussi notre propre identité plurielle. Par la sensualité des modèles, le travail de l’artiste évoque aussi le désir et la sexualité qui perdurent et se muent selon les âges.
