Specialist note

While originally devised as a sport watch, and thus made in stainless steel, the success of the Nautilus prompted Patek Philippe to realize versions in precious metal as well. The present watch is indeed the precious metal evolution of the Nautilus chronograph. The warm tone of the stainless steel and pink gold case is masterfully balanced by the blue ribbed dial, resulting in an epitome of sporty elegance.

Reference 5980⁄1AR
Reference 5980⁄1AR was introduced at Baselworld 2013, marking the return of two-tone timepieces. It is fitted with a 40.5 mm. wide stainless steel and 18K pink gold case and bracelet, the stunning blue dial is inspired by the dial colour of the first Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 3700⁄1, however with a much richer and darker tone. The blue gradient changes colour depending on lighting conditions, all beautifully contrasting with the rose gold luminescent hour markers and hands and the white accents of the mono-counter chronograph register and subsidiary seconds dial.
