Specialist note

The present lot is a proof of the first state, not recorded in Baer. The annotation 'Ajouter du blanc' translates to 'Add white' presumably as a note for the color combination of the final edition. The present lot consists of a layer of white printed over a field of black. The final edition would eventually also include yellow, red and blue over top of these first two runs.
