This intriguing drawing depicts the Temple of Mars, Rome, a favourite subject of artists visiting the city in the late 18th Century. The hand, however, although very accomplished remains unidentified. It seems possible given the detailed rendering of architectural detail that the author is a young architect visiting the city, certainly English as that is the origin of the paper.
