« (...) une visite à Versailles m’imposa à l’esprit les multiplications des pavés. Etant femme, je les ressentais fortement dans mon équilibre, si je puis dire, car ils étaient bombés et irréguliers, et je portais des petits talons. J’en fis une boîte : ‘Les pavés du roi’, avec un Petit Trianon attenant, qui constitue une boîte à fard adjointe, articulée à la première. »

« (...) a visit to Versailles brought to my mind the multiplication of the paving stones. Being a woman, I felt them strongly in my balance, if I may say so, because they were bulging and irregular, and I was wearing small heels. I made a box of them: 'Les pavés du roi', with an adjoining Petit Trianon, which constitutes a small blush box, articulated to the first one. »
