etching, before 1762, on laid paper, without watermark, a very fine impression of the first state (of two), printing with great clarity and contrasts, with inky plate edges, with margins on three sides and some blank border at left
Sheet 164 x 120 mm.

Unidentified, blindstamp fragment at the lower sheet edge at centre.

Specialist note

This is a rare first-state proof, before the plate was cut down to remove the blank borders at left and below, before the plate number 27 was added at upper right, and before the publication of the first volume ('Primo Libro') of the Raccolta di Teste, following the death of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo in 1770. Rizzi considered the etchings of the first volume to be created before Giovanni Domenico's journey to Madrid in 1762.
