etching, circa 1646, on laid paper, partial watermark Phoenix in a Crown of Laurel (Godefroy 33-35), a fine impression of the very rare first state (of six), printed with a subtle plate tone and inky plate edges above, with narrow margins, in a 17th century Dutch ebonised frame
