Note du spécialiste

This elegant and innovatively-designed table table à thé is quintessential of Linke's well-documented collabortation with the sculptor Léon Messagé whose sinuous 'neo-Rococo' designs became long associated with Linke's output following the 1900 Paris Exposition universelle. Christopher Payne remarks that the present variant (or bis) of Linke's index number 1477, illustrated C. Payne, François Linke: The Belle Epoque of French Furniture, Woodbridge, 2003, p. 239, which was available in bois de violette with an elaborate X-stretcher and enhanced upper tray support. Payne records index number 1477, known as Table à thé Régence, was supplied to Nussinoff in 1907 and Elias Meyer for his Grosvenor Square residence in 1909.
