First edition in book form, first printing, first issue of Wellss first novel, with the author’s name misspelled on the title page (“H. S. Wells”). Following a protagonist referred to simply as the "Time Traveller" who transports himself 800,000 and then 30,000,000 years into the future, this work of great imagination and influence is regarded as "the earliest known work of science fiction to be based on the idea of time travel" (Wells Society 4). Currey p. 524.
