Robert Robin (1742-1799) in 1777 became Clockmaker to His Royal Highness the Duc de Chartres and in 1782 he became Clockmaker to the King. The business was continued by his two sons Nicholas-Robert Robin (1775-1816), who later became horloger to Louis XVIII, and his brother Jean-Joseph Robin (1806-1858).
