A SET OF FOUR GEORGE III SILVER CANDLESTICKS
MARK OF JOHN ROBERTS AND COMPANY, SHEFFIELD, 1805
In the neoclassical style, each on reeded plain circular base, the baluster stem with plain socket and detachable nozzle, the bases and nozzles engraved with a crest, with later wood bases, marked on bases
10 ¾ in. (27.5 cm.) high
The crest is that of Warren possibly for Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren 1st Bt. G.C.B. (1753-1822) of Stapleford, Nottinghamshire or possibly Robert Warren (1752-1814) of Ballydonarea, co. Wicklow, although the absence of a trefoil on the chest of the Wyvern, found on the crest of Warren of Ballydonarea, suggests the former is a more likely owner of the candlesticks.
