Oscar Graves (b. 1921), is a multi-disciplinary African-American artist from Detroit, Michigan. He studied at Wayne State University (1953) and Cranbrook Academy (1954) before becoming an instructor in sculpture and ceramics at the Franklin Marshall Settlement House. For thirteen years he served as chief assistant to Marshall Fredericks (1908-1998), an American sculptor known for such works as the Expanding Universe, which he completed with the assistance of Oscar Graves.
