A gift from H.S. (Jim) Ede to Marion Louisa Graham on the occasion of her birthday, 11 November 1955, and by descent to the present owner.

Jim Ede gifted Sailing Ship in a Stormy Sea to Marion Louisa (Loulie) Graham on her birthday in 1955, and the work has remained in her family until the present day. Loulie Graham was one of the contributors to Ede's maintenance fund which he set up to support David Jones. Please see lot 101, David Jones' Cath Gartref, for further background.
