LIN FENGMIAN (1900-1991)

The present owner was a Canadian Government Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong from 1962 to 1965. He travelled to mainland China with his wife in June 1964 and visited Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Beijing and Guangzhou. While in Shanghai, they stayed at the Peace Hotel. A friend who was acquainted with the artist-introduced the owners to Lin Fengmian and they visited Lin’s home and studio on Nanchang Road.
This painting was purchased at the time directly from Lin Fengmian and was proudly displayed in his various residences since then.
