Specialist note
The succesful firm of Maison Meynard was established by Guillaume Meynard in premises at 50, faubourg Saint-Antoine in 1812. In 1833, Meynard was joined in business by his eldest son, Guillaume-Mathieu, and the firm became known as Meynard Père et Fils Aîné. The firm altered its name in various sublte ways as the next generations followed in their fathers' footsteps, until the business was sold the business in its entirety to Eugène Frager in 1889. Throughout its own long existence, and its continuance under Frager, Maison Meynard was a regular exhibitor and medallist at the Parisian exhibitions.
