A SET OF SEVEN GEORGE III SILVER-GILT DESSERT DISHES
MARK OF THOMAS POWELL, LONDON, 1771 AND 1772
In three sizes, shaped oval, on openwork fluted base, the sides pierced with trellis and rosettes, the scalloped rim applied with rosettes, with strenghening bands beneath, engraved with crest below earl's coronet, marked underneath; the bands with London Assay Office marks for 2019
one 14 ¾ in. (37.5 cm.); two 12 ¾ in. (32.5 cm.) and four 11 3/4 in. (30 cm.) wide
147 oz. 18 dwt. (4,601 gr.)
The crest is that of Bouverie, probably for William, 1st Earl of Radnor (1715-1776).
