Eiji Hashimoto was the adopted child of the Hashimoto family, an important family in Fukushima Prefecture from the Meiji to Showa periods in Japan. His eldest brother Hashimoto Man’uemon (1866-1935) was the family leader. He served as president of Hashimoto Partnership Company, and also several family owned companies in Kriyama. In 1926 he became the first chairman of the Kriyama Chamber of Commerce. Politically, he became a member of the Kriyama City Council on September 29, 1925, and became a member of the House of Peers.
