Lot 1047 FROM A PRIVATE SINGAPOREAN COLLECTION (LOTS 1047-1048)
Prior to World War II, Mr. Chew Lian Seng was a businessman and owner of rubber plantations in Malaysia. He went on to become a banker after the war. Chew was fond of art and became one of Xu Beihong’s patrons during the artist’s stay in Singapore. The two calligraphic works from the collection were acquired directly from the artists and were kept in the family until now.
