Specialist note

Hand-painted robes by Zhang Daqian are extremely rare. See a silk lady's mandarin dress, qipao, dipicting orchis, painted by Zhang Daqian, made specifically for the wife of his friend Mr Liu Liangnian (b.1905), offered in Christie's Hong Kong, 29 octobre 2001, lot 107.
