CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, MARQUES DE HALL A QUATRE CARACTERES INCISEE XING YOU HENG TANG ET EPOQUE DAOGUANG (1821-1850)
Le socle est habilement décoré en émaux cloisonnés brillants d'une bande de fleurs de lotus parmi les rinceaux feuillagés sur fond jaune entourant le centre. Des dragons archaïsants stylisés entrecoupés de perles enflammées sur fond bleu brillant ornent le cavetto tandis que les bords sont rythmés de cartouches abritant des pivoines en réserve sur fond rouge corail. La coupe aux deux anses découpées est décorée d'une façon similaire de fleurs de lotus sur leurs tiges feuillagées entre deux frises de grecques soulignant le bord et le pied. La base de la coupe et du socle portent chacun une marque de hall incisée Xing You Heng Tang.

Specialist note

The cup and stand were both tested as silver at the Goldsmiths' Company Assay Office, London,12 February 2020.
"Xing You Heng Tang" may be translated as the "Hall of Perpetuation". It is known that this hall was the main residence in the Forbidden City of Zhai Quan (1794-1854), a Manchurian official and a descendant of the Emperor Qianlong. Zhai Quan had a distinguished career in the service of the court and was known to be a keen art collector. His family's presitgious collection of works of art and calligraphy was famous during the Daoguang and Xianfeng period (1851-1861) and this hallmark is inscribed on a number of his artifacts.
