Specialist note
Blessed by an intense blue lacquered dial which is known as "Bleu de France" and enhanced by 8 round-cut and two baguette-cut diamonds, the present specimen is perhaps one of the most attractive combination of the reference 1803. This shade of blue is one of the rarest of all known “Stella” dials which beautifully harmonizes with its crisp pink gold case.
In production from 1959 to 1977, reference 1803 can be considered one of the archetypical Day-Date models. Powered by caliber 1555 (up to 1965) and 1556, it is defined by the ribbed bezel and the dial with stepped outer track. For a short period of time in the 1970's, the Rolex Day-Date reference 1803 was available with coloured dials.
