A project occurring over three years, the collection “La Symbolique des Laques” allies artists from one of the oldest Japanese lacquer workshops and the manufacturer with the longest watchmaking tradition.

Initiated in 2010, Vacheron Constantin released every year for a duration of three years 20 sets of three watches with dials featuring motifs selected from the vast symbolic treasure trove of Far Eastern artistic traditions.

Highlighting the talents of watchmakers and lacquer artists, the present watch is part of the first set and explores the theme of longevity, represented by the pine tree, bamboo and the plum tree, known as “The Three Friends of Winter” due to their resistance to cold temperatures. Also representing friendship and loyalty, the dial associates a Nightingale to the plum tree, one of the first indicators of spring.
